CHC and Hydronic Industry Training Opportunities

No business can grow without good training for its employees. The Canadian Hydronics Council offers a variety of training programs to assist your personal, professional and business growth. The Council offers national programs of skills development which are available for personnel of every experience level and area of specialization.

Basic Training Programs

CHC now offers two basic level technical programs in design and installation to help you and your employees get started on skills development and improvement. These programs are offered by the CHC as stepping stones toward becoming a hydronics specialist through other in-depth programs such as Certification.

Introduction to Hydronics Installations

Since its introduction in 2006, more than 750 participants have attended this popular 2-day school. This is an entry level course and the starting point for anyone interested in learning more about the professional installation of hydronic heating systems.

Essentials of Hydronic System Design – New for 2012

New for 2012, this intermediate level program is designed to help practitioners understand key design principles and the different options and solutions required to meet client needs. The curriculum builds on the lessons of the introductory program and all participants must have previously completed the CHC Introduction to Hydronic Heating Installations program.

Certification

The top step of hydronics training is recognition as a Certified Hydronic Designer or Installer. Offered through colleges or online learning, this program this is the only accepted credential recognized by some provinces.

CSA B214 and Hydronic Installation Inspection Webinar

The CSA B214 Installation Code for Hydronic Heating Systems is a national standard that is now referenced in the National Building Code. Hydronic Installations present unique challenges for inspectors as they can cross over between building and plumbing systems. As a result, they sometimes fall into an inspection ‘no-man’s land’ and many inspectors and installers remain unaware that the provisions of the B214 Standard are now subject to inspection and enforcement.

The Canadian Hydronics Council offers webinar training designed to help installers, building and plumbing inspectors better understand the CSA B214 and the key challenges they may face during field inspections.
